Sarah Botstein  


Sarah has worked with Ken Burns and Florentine Films for more than a decade. She is currently producing Prohibition, scheduled for release in 2011. She served as an advisor on The National Parks: America’s Best Idea.   

In 2008, she and Ken collaborated with Herzog and Company to produce The Work To Come, a film about the late Senator Edward M. Kennedy that premiered at the Democratic National Convention.

Botstein produced the Emmy award-winning series The War, a seven-part series that aired nationwide in 2007. It was the most-watched series on PBS in the past ten years. She was an associate producer for the critically acclaimed ten-part series Jazz, which aired in January 2001.

In addition to producing the films, Botstein was an integral part of the extensive educational outreach and promotion for The War and Jazz. She co-produced the companion soundtrack CDs for both films. She was a project supervisor on the twenty-eight CDs that accompanied the Jazz series, including the box set which went platinum in 2001. Botstein has also been involved in music supervising, most notably on the Julie Taymor film Frida. She has guest lectured at New York University and Barnard College.

Prior to joining Florentine Films, Sarah worked for Serino Coyne Public Relations and Owen Comora Associates, where she represented sponsors of Public Television and helped promote several Florentine Films productions, including: The West; Thomas Jefferson; Lewis & Clark: The Journey of the Corps of Discovery; and Frank Lloyd Wright.

She is a graduate of Barnard College/Columbia University with a degree in American Studies. She lives in New York City.
