Boston Globe correspondent Scott Alarik has written: "Jacqueline Schwab is one of the most immediately recognizable pianists in America, although very few people actually know who she is."
Her improvisations have been featured on nine series by Ken Burns, including his Grammy award-winning The Civil War, Baseball, his recent work, Not for Ourselves Alone: The Story of Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony and his upcoming work on Mark Twain.
Ken Burns has said, "Jacqueline Schwab brings more feeling and intensity to music than anyone I know. Her playing is insistent, physical, heartfelt and unusually moving."

She has performed for President Clinton at the White House celebration of Burns' Lewis and Clark. Additional soundtrack work includes documentaries by other PBS filmmakers (including The Irish in America) and two Master Card television commercials.

Drawing on classical, traditional and dance music, Jacqueline performs solo concerts of vintage American music from Stephen Foster to Billie Holiday -- quiet, introspective pieces contrasted with up-tempo vintage dances.
Mad Robin
, her first solo recording, contains her lyrical reflections on English dance tunes. "A tremendous colorist; when she plays the piano it sounds as if she has an orchestra at her fingertips" -
Sing Out!
Her second, Down Came an Angel (on the Dorian label), features her meditations on American carols and spirituals. "One of the most beautiful and heartfelt Christmas discs to come along in a very long time." -Bob Gottlieb, on-line All Music Guide.

Jacqueline has recorded and performed for dancers nationwide with the improvisatory dance music ensemble Bare Necessities. She has also performed and recorded with Scottish fiddler Laura Risk (Celtic Dialogue, on the Dorian label), singer Jean Redpath (including on A Prairie Home Companion), fiddler Alasdair Fraser, glass harmonica performer Dean Shostak and others.
