Rikk Desgres was a film editor on BASEBALL. "It was one of most incredible four years of my life. The memories of being a part of this gargantuan production will live with me forever" Rikk said. Rikk now runs Pinehurst Pictures & Sound, a production facility in Northampton, MA. "I still focus on my strengths like editing, but I now produce, do motion graphics, and do more sound design than I ever dreamed of when cutting on film." Pinehurst has two non-linear editing suites, incorporating Pro Tools work stations for sound design. "I felt very comfortable moving from film to computer based editing, although I miss the 'feel' of film, so I keep some 16mm trims in my desk drawer." In the years since BASEBALL, Rikk has been involved with many great projects. He was picture editor for The People's Plague: Tuberculosis In America, A two hour documentary film about American attitudes and actions toward tuberculosis from 1850 through contemporary times, and, Hidden In The Blackstone, a short film on how the Blackstone River Valley was the impetus behind how America would be changed forever by the Industrial Revolution. This was produced for the Blackstone River Museum in Pawtucket, RI. Rikk was Sound Designer for a series of programs produced for the National D-Day Museum in New Orleans, LA, and was Sound Editor/Designer for Only A Teacher, a three part series on the exploration of the role of the American teacher from the mid-1800s to the present day. Only A Teacher is coming to PBS in 2001. Rikk has worked in radio too. He has two National Public Radio editing credits, Beyond Affliction: The Disability History Project, a four part series on the history, and attitudes toward disability from the Civil War to the present, and Top Cottage. A short radio program on FDR, and his self designed home he called Top Cottage. You can get more information at www.pinehurstpictures.com, or by e-mail at rikk@pinehurstpictures.com. |
