My name is Gladys Esquijarosa. Growing up, others have taken it upon themselves to define me. Now it\u2019s time that I define myself. I love to write, listen to music, go to museums, and go out and see nature. In my life, most people, including my family, have seen my challenge and not me. It is a part of my life.\u00a0I wish I wasn\u2019t there,\u00a0but it is not my whole life. I\u2019ve been striving to work on not seeing myself as a victim, but sometimes I\u2019m not successful.<\/p>\n
I have mild cerebral palsy. If I were to describe my situation I would say that I am a person who happens to have a physical challenge. I consider the use of any other term or terms to be demeaning and offensive. What I\u2019ve tried to do all my life is not focus on that. Whether it\u2019s good or bad, I\u2019ve tried to pretend it doesn\u2019t exist.<\/p>\n
I just graduated from Baruch with a degree in journalism and creative writing. Now, I\u2019m looking for a job. I love sports: I\u2019m a big Yankees fan. I have a blog where I write about sports, but not just box scores. I like issues. I would love to have a career where I was the host of my own sports show on radio or television. Reporting on events like the World Series or the Super Bowl is a dream of mine.<\/p>\n
Although I love sports I consider myself to be a person with many facets. I\u2019m interested in national politics, health care, animal rights, marriage equality, and I have a big love and appreciation for science.<\/p>\n
Many people all over the world have challenges. Mine just happens to be physical.<\/p>\n
